Preview: My Custom Subwoofer Install (under $400!!!)
Alright all, heres a preview of my christmas project, adding a subwoofer to my 2006 G Coupe. Heres what i got:
1 Sheet MDF
Bondo
Fiberglass sheet and resin
Brushes etc...
Alpine 10" Type R Subwoofer (500/1500):

Kenwood 500/1000W amp:

PowerAcoustic PW2 2 farad capacitor (cheaper than the 1.2 farad...):

Tsunami 4 gauge wiring kit:

It looks really crude right now, but i was checking for fitment, the hole has been cut out and another layer of fiberglass and resin has been applied, ill update tomorrow. It should be quality and bump when i turn it up.

well here we go. i got everything installed but the sub is extremely quiet. I havent sealed the box yet so im assuming i dont have exactly to spec air and ports, but i got a 500/1500 W sub, so im assuming it should shake the trunk somewhat...
Do i need a Line Driver? Is it needed? I have the kenwood amp that has the Speaker Level Input's but this seems to be my problem with the HU only putting out a little voltage. I have my settings turned ALL THE WAY UP, and its vibrating a little, but not making much noise at all...

Went back to college and left her sitting at home, not enough time to finish. Back to finish her, ive been sanding a lot of the resin today and filling in the gaps, now i have to decide whether i want a VIP look or a show car look.

UPDATE: The sub sounds AWESOME now, The box is perfectly sized for the sub, and I decided to turn up the amp and really see how she does. Finished the box too. Unfortunately i will be selling the box soon for a new setup with a 12". I might be finishing it again in black depending on peoples choices:
