HU Install issue's

Hey Guy's

I NEED HELP

I finially got my dash kit in and after struggling to disassemble the dash and what not to get the stock Bose HU out. I hooked up the wiring harness that i was told would work for this application, which is the 2003 Nissan 350Z harness kit say 95 and up and it fits. I wired up the harness and plugged in my HU and no power, i've got power to the dash kit for climate controls and all other applications that need power.

The wires i did not connect are the illumination (Orange) The Amp (Blue & White) and power antena (Blue) which i dont think i need.

any help will be greatly appreciated, i had to put all my dash back together

Try grounding the head unit to the chassis and make sure the antenna cable is plugged in properly. Also, make sure you haven't installed constant to ACc power and vice versa as the yellow and red might be mixed up on the harness. I haven't upgraded my HU yet but that's just some general HU install stuff. I'm pretty sure the 2003 Z uses the same harness.

can you take pictures of what you did so far?

OK, so you crimped your aftermarket HU powe harness with the Nissan power harness...then you connected the Nissan power harness to the stock power harness right?

that would make sense of the AC controller was working since that is a different power harness altogether from the HU harness.

if you are getting no power to the HU, then there is obviously something not connected to the power harnesses or something misconnected.

you may want to start over again, disconnect the power harness and recrimp/solder/connect again...

don't know on this one....

Nissan has used the same harnesses since like 1985. You haven't connected something properly.

You will need to connect the illumination and power antenna wires. The G has a power antenna amplifier that needs to be turned on.

Yup what Gilley said. The blue wire is going to turn on the bose amp.

Ground it to the chassis.

Since you have the Bose system, how are you connecting the new HU to the Bose amp? I wouldn't run speaker level audio into the low level Bose inputs. I would use your HU's RCA outputs, cut an RCA cable, connect the RCA end to the HU and strip the other end to splice into the Nissan wire harness adapter that you have, which will send the low level signal to the Bose amp.

Well i took it to my local audio shop and the monkey's there don't wanna touch the car because they say it's to "High End".

Right now i just want to get power to my HU then work on by passying the Bose amp so i can run the speakers off the HU which is way better then the BOSE AMP i will take some pics and see if you guys can give me any idea's.

Cheers!
