help with JL w7 setup

okay i have read all the posts concering the JL w7 on here, i have a coupe, and space is obviously my main concern. I do not wanna rid of the spare tire, so my choices are:

a) 1 8w7
b) 2 8w7
c) 1 10w7

sealed enclosure, but the problem is, which would be the best combination that would fit in my trunk? my main priority is 1 10w7, if that wont fit then i'll settle for 2 8w7, and if that still is too big, then 1 8w7... please help me out guys...

I measured the tallest part of my trunk and i think its 14" or so...

im really stuck on what to do...

If you don't mind taking up most of the space in the trunk, then go for the 10w7 with a sturdy pre-fab box. Obcon makes some solid sealed enclosures that not only perform well but look awesome. I'm not sure if their 10" boxes will fit our trunk offhand, but I had a sealed Obcon box with a plexi back that looked and sounded awesome in my company car which was an Impala. www.obcon.com- hope that helps!

You can fit a 10W7 in the trunk without getting rid of the spare. The stock JL sealed enclosure will not fit (too tall), but you can get a custom sealed enclosure that can push up against the seatbacks and have the enclosure cover the entire lateral space to minimize loss of trunk space. I would also recommend removing the stock 6x9s and remove the panel in the trunk that covers them. You can dynamat that area and have the stock grilles and leave the holes to help pump da bass through. Also ask about having the sub amp bolted to the enclosure back to save trunk space of having them mounted on the trunk floor. Other alternatives is to have a enclosure for the amp to be flush on one of the trunk sides. Obviously this will cost you some extra $$$ for the custom enclosures. Good luck.

Re: help with JL w7 setup

Hey Euro:

I'll try to take some pictures this week of mine but I had 2 8w7's installed in my vehicle with and had a custom enclosure made by the installer. He also put up a false wall to cover around this and the 500/1 i had mounted in the shock tower. It did take up a good amount of space but still has enough room for a weekend road trip suitcase and someone rolling with you. No room for my golfclubs though but the sound is off the hook and the low end is just right.
