Will the Scosche FAI-3a work the same as the FAI-3?

I'm going to install the Avic-d3 and hook it up to the factory bose. Didn't realize it should be the FAI-3A. Does it make a difference? Will the FAI-3 work the same?

Walmart's the only place that sells anything like this anymore. I tried searching everywhere for the 3A and it seems discontinued. If the FAI-3 is no good, what other options do I have? Thanks.

yes, you need the FAI-3A...

FAI-3 is for speaker level output that needs to be converted to low level...in others words, headunits with internals amps.

Our head units has no internal amp and are already low level output.

you can actually use it on your speaker output wires on your avic, but is really unnecessary since you already have low ouputs on the avic as well.

As a matter of fact, FAI-3A is also useless but it does provide the convenience of not splicing into the RCA's

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to return it when I receive it. Why do a lot of members use it then? What would be a good alternative soundgate/ noise isolator then?

if your keeping your factory bose amp and speakers and just changing out the head unit...you don't need a soundgate or noise isolators as long you have the headunit grounded well.

For splice free installation...or maybe even the easiest connection, try the metra 70-7551 wire harness. IMO, i don't even think people use the scosche fai-3a.....maybe NN01 or the NNO3B

Thanks for the info. The irony is, they sent me the FAI-3A accidentally anyways.
