Unhappy 2004 G35 Coupe CD player

Hi All,

I own a 2004 G35 coupe, I was talking to the dealer two days back and he said that if I play written music CD in the Infiniti CD player it would spoil the Player and that I should only play music CD's that is bought from the Shop..

Is this a true statement,..? he said its something to do with the laser that reads the disc.

i have a 2004 g35c, and the day i got the car i loaded the cds in, the first cd read fine(not a written cd) then it moved to the 2nd cd which was written and it started to skip then went blank. now when in cd mode it says cd error, still to this day it will not work. so i guess its true! never thought thats why it stoped working...

If by "written" you mean burned cds, then I've been playing them for the past 3-4 years that I've owned my car and have no problems at all.

+1 my mixes work great... I'm guessing a CD full of MP3's might cause a problem.

Mine skips only when cold outside, ~45F or less. Parts have been ordered and will be getting replaced next week. Warranty

No damage will be done to your player no matter what CD you put in there. Worst that will happen is that your player will not be able to read it and it will say "Error". My player sometimes cuts off left side speakers when I listen to burned CDs and the dealer offered to replace the player under warranty. I found out that if you bang on the side of the player from the driver side a couple of times the left side speakers go back on so I didn't bother the dealer to replace the player.

That's what I do too when my driver side speaker goes out. The dealers were just going to replace mine with the same unit so it's bound to happen again with the new unit. But mine goes out every so often with burned and original CDs.

Skipping CD

Why in the world is that? I had mine replaced 3 times because of the same issue haven't had problems with this one but the buttons are all sticky. I just can't get a good player.
