Wiring 2-ohm sub
Just got a 4080 enc along with one of the older JLw6s. A Craigslist sub When I bought it the guy couldn't tell me much on what model and such except that it's a w6. I believe it is a DV coil because it has a pair of terminals on either side. The guy had soldered speaker wire to run the sub what looks like in parallel. I also have a 5 channel Soundstream 600.5 that makes the mids and highs (Kappa 60.7cs/Kappa coaxial) sound very nice but the bass is lacking. I also have an Eclipse AVN5435 HU.
According to the amp's manual it says that it can push 240w running 2 ohm and 120w 4 ohm. I've always used a 4 ohm hookup in all of my other vehicles. I think i'm running about 120w into the sub which is way under rated even if it is a little bit older of a sub. So, how do I get the 240w out of this amp?
Oh and I seriously am looking at getting a new 10w6v2 and a 500/1 but I want to make sure I used what I have before I shell out some dough.

The sub has a DVC. Not sure what the RMS rating is for the sub. 300w maybe? Like I said I bought it off of CL. It was advertised as a 10w6 but when I showed up it was the older one. $80... not bad I guess. I got a once in a lifetime deal on two 4080s for $150. No kidding. The guy wanted to get rid of them and I was only there to buy one but he had both sides. I was like ok i'll take both for $150. I couldn't believe it. If I knew then what I know now I would have kept both and had two new JL w6v2s running off a JL 500/1. I would have been happy as hell. But I sold the other for normal forum price to a great guy. Made some money to buy my Eclipse DD HU.

If your amp can handle a 2 ohm load, then use it. When you get the next sub, you can run them each at 2 ohms, but in series for a 4 ohm load. Aome amps can handle a 1 ohm load too.
I had the 250 watt sub channel of my old JL 500/5 powering the single 10w6 and it sounded great. 1000 watts and two 10w6's sounds better though.
