The Radar tells you where the threat is coming from and how close. I must have seen 10 fuzz on the way up and back that i would have never seen with out the radar.

All in all I HIGHLY reccomend the Valentine 1 radar detector for all those with heavy feet

big ups to 07silverg for the heads up on all the info and install

Where are you routing your RD cord to? I thought you put it in the back of the rear view mirror?

cord goes un-noticeable thru the headliner down the A pillar under the dash thru the center console and into the power socket..im not f'in around with the little connector they give you to hot wire it into the rear view mirror power...i heard horror stories about stuff going out. Anyways you dont see the wire at all unless you open the center console.

BTW the mount that holds the V1 to the rear view mirror had to be ordered seperately....and you also need like a 20ft telephone cord to get to the center console

I have both the Escort 8500 and the V1. There is no comparison. The Escort is smaller and looks nicer but the V1 just kicks butt in performance. Also, knowing where the signal is coming from is indispensable to separating false alarms from the real mccoy. If you live in urban/suburban areas like I do in Riverside, LA and OC you go nuts with false alarms with other units since you have no clue whether it is a grocery store automatic door opener or a cop hiding nearby.

well for one a bad connection to your rear view can malfunction the electricity to it and totally short out the whole compass and nighttime dimmer. Thats all i heard.....its not like you wire it into the rear view mirror and ur radio goes out.

I have an escort 8500 and it has paid for itself SEVERAL times over. it is identical to the valentine, but doesn't distinguish direction. I plan to upgrade to the integrated hidden unit eventually. both products are great and they will save you $$$.

on a side note, Full potential is realized when you actually scan the road as far as you can see for officers of the law. I see them somewhat in conjunction with the detector and immediately slow down. if i didn't scan, i could of been lazy to see if it was something else(autoDoor, cellTower, etc.), and gotten a ticket.

countryjoycraft, the link is in one of my other posts... Search v1

My brother had tint world try a splice the power wire into his mirror, while doing so they must have cut the wrong wire or connected the wrong wires but the end result was he lost homelink and autodimming. When he brought it to lexus they didn't even want to accept the car becuase of the the after market modding into the electrical system. Needless to say they finally accepted it after the service manager was brought into the equation, but because it was "aftermarket modification" nothing was covered.

thats what seperates the valentine one from the rest of the market...its a HUGE difference.
