Tis the month of Gs :) 03 G Sedan Install

well, turns out my entire month of march is going to be filled with G35s lol...here is a little one i just finihsed for an 03 G35 Sedan. I dont seem to get to do Sedans as much so I was happy to get the chance.

The goals:

1. good sound quality
2. stealthy and clean installation
3. keep as much trunk space as possible without removing the spare

so...lets get started, a pioneer avic-D3 nav/dvd headunits starts the signal, the ipod cable is coming out of the upper cubby, also installed were the bluetooth and XM modules. This is my first time working with the woodgrained dash kit, but it really wasnt any different installation wise

front stage is a set of DLS ultimate iridium 6.3 3 way component set, midbas went into the door as usual and the door dampened and new wires ran into the door, and the mid and tweet were flushed into the stock kicls, and they were also sound dampened:

the stock bose sub was removed, and here is the trunk:

a 4080 12" box side on the passenger side, and a new fake wall is at the front of hte trunk, overall, only about 4.5-5" of usable space was taken up

remove the cover on the amp rack and you see, through a plexi window, the inside guts of a DLS reference RA50 5 cahnnel amplifier. the front four channels are bridged to send 200 watts per side to the front speak, and the sub provides around 400 watts to the subwoofer. the opening itself is trimmed in black CF vinyl:

behind the grille of the 4080 box sits a single image dynamics IDQ12v3 12" subwoofer, and provides plenty of low end for the system

and finally, one more pic of the wiring behind the boards:

overall, sounds very good, just as previous installs involving similar equipment i had done, one thing we will prolly add to the mix is a small line driver, as the output voltage of the D3 is pretty pathetic...

Looks very good!
If you don't mind me asking, how much do you charge for an install like this?

Without building or modding the kick panels where else could the small tweeters go. I got mine in the factory spot but I really dislike how they look. Could they go on a modded A pillar panel and still keep SQ? Is the 4080 box they way to go? I wanna do my trunk over with the 4080 and a ID sub not sure if 10" or a 12" would be better. I just want good SQ and I mainly listen to rock but rap sometimes too.

Thanks for posting this link in you other thread I wanted to see some sedan stuff and missed this when you made it.

Are you still able to get good output from the sub with the trunk closed off like that? I have always been leary about building up a couple slabs of MDF between the trunk and the cabin based on how it could close off the sub from the vehicle. Is the factory hole for the Bose sub left open? I suppose that would help...

Yep, A pillars would be just fine. In fact, I've talken to Bing and he recommends putting them in the A pillar. If the kickpods I'm getting don't work for me (they have tweeter openings for them) I will be putting mine in the A pillars.

Are you talking about infinite baffle? If so, you will be surprise on the output you get out of it. I've heard several IB setups and they are amazing. Just yesterday I heard one getting only 250w and you would have thought it's MUCH more than 250w to a single 12. With IB you don't need as much power, but you have to make sure that you seal everything. You don't want front waves and backwaves meeting, so doing things such as expanding foam in the rear quarter panels and making sure the rear deck is sealed (yes covering up the hole for the bose sub is a must), and whatever else is required. I thought about doing it for my G by doing 2 15's, but I decided to stick with a single 15 sealed.

Nice install

I was wondering approximately how much would it cost to have a sub places into my trunk and the hole cut out for it. Everything else I have
