another way to install aftermarket deck w/o a kit
another way to install aftermarket deck w/o a kit
i saw this pic on the web, and this would be a good way of puttin in an aftermarket deck w/o losing the bose factory headunit... was wondering if any of you knew how to do this by lookin at the pics that im about to post... this is a good way just incase you decide to sell your car later... and you keep everything lookin factory... but the weird thing in these pics, i dont see where the chassis is located? the face plate is connected by some cord... i would like to do this if anyone has any idea on how to do this...

Re: another way to install aftermarket deck w/o a kit
Thats g35mt's car. He's since then gotten the double din and installed it correctly. This was something he did before the double din was known about, he had the receiver located in the navi compartment with a display extension cable that went to that location. The main problem with that was that in that particular location it was almost impossible to see the display, as the angle/light hitting it blanked it out. Nice install however.

Re: another way to install aftermarket deck w/o a kit
ooooh yes...there are few ways but the double din kit is most easy and paintless way to do it! like the pic, you can install the deck in the cubby hole.
at a meet last year, i saw one person has an poinner's in-dash montior deck install at that cubby hole, as i recalled the deck stick out roughly 3 inchs and the lid wont close? but it lQQks good tho.
one other way is to fibergalss the whole center dash! the pros qouted me 1200 bucks to do that!, like the dumbass that i am i tried do that myself along with an friend at shop, it came out just like my armrest thing, if you recalled other posts, its total crap!...hehehe oh well atleast i tried. but the thing is that you still have to keep the stock radio and changer, so only place to put the new deck is on that cubby hole.
please take from me, please please please get that kit, will save you many sleepless nights. if you atttach the dual temp controls, the kit lQQks totally factory! since it came form the FACTORY...s.w.

Re: another way to install aftermarket deck w/o a kit
that was my original install. since then i have the double din install. My head unit doesn't function that well. the reason wa the contact between the head unit and facelift. Because i had it solder and unsolder, the contact is somewhat screwy. But still liveable.
