Help With Avicd3y Audio!

Hello guys! I recently installed an AVICD3Y in '03 G35 and I was wondering if the sound quality should be better than the BOSE system I had. My sound quality sounds like crap and certainly doesn't match the BOSE system! I included two 2-channel SNI-35 adapters that allows me to control settings for my amp! Any suggestions on why the sound system is so low? PLEASE HELP!

Something must be wrong with your setup. I installed my D3 and it sounds quite a bit better than the stock Bose system.

Did you install it yourself or have someone install it?

My cousin and I installed it. He has alot of experience installing Double-Dins. We double checked all the connections to make sure everything was working properly. What were the parts that you used for your setup? Did you use the OEM2 adapter and adjusted the controls from there? And if so, what setting did you leave them on?

Please explain how everything is connected together. Did you use the D3's RCA outs or the speaker outs? Where does the audio signal go from there?

Gilley, I will double check on what I did when I get home. I just want to make sure that everything I post on this thread is accurate.

in my experience, when you add just a headunit to stock, you shouldnt expect much of a gain over stock to be honest. what usually happens is, dpeneidng on which bose adapter you yuse (i use the scosche one whcih allows you to adjust the output level), is one of two things:

1. you gain some clarity but loose a bit of overall volume and output, espeically perhaps at the low end. this is if you ahve an adjustable bose adapter and turn the gains down a bit.

2. you gain some volume, but loose a bit of clarity, and you will notice a much higher background HISS sound, even with the volume on the d3 at zero, and as you turn the volume up, it gets loud quickly but also looses clarity quickly. this is due to the d3's output voltage , is much higher than the stock headunit's voltage going to the bose amp, so basically too much signal causes, in a sense the "gain" on the bose amp to be too high (though its non adjustable of coursebut its set to match the output of the stock bose headunit), and you get HISS and clipping quickly and loses clarity.

Hey Gilley,

I installed it using the speaker outs from the D3. Will the RCA outs give me better sound?

16, so what your saying is that the headunit should give me a little bit more of a better sound or no? I've been reading on some of the forums on the same issue and some people are saying that they have way better sound than the stock hu. Thanks for the replies!
