Power windows problem?

I'm having a problem with the passenger side, to make it go down i have to hit the door from inside and it will roll down and to roll back up is has to go down all the way and then back up. It seems like something is caught in there or its something that is shorting out? I tried the Key Fob roll down feature and it only rolls down the driver side window.. so its probably not the controls.. Is it pretty hard to take that door panel out of there?? Is there a DIY somewhere to change the motor, because the dealership quoted me 750$ to do it i told em to go **** emselves.

It sounds like a bad motor. Look at the service manual to see if you think you can change it out.

hey!!

Yeah i gutted out the door carefully today, took the motor apart and you can see inside the motor assembly there is 2 small brushes that make the lil motor grip and they are worn out completely so probably what happened is when I was hitting on the door the lil gears slightly grabbed.. so I just picked up a new motor on ebay for a 146$US+ Shipping.. dealership wanted to rip me off and put a new regulator in there a new motor, and a finishing rubber for the grand total of 1300$ + Labor, I told them to suck my dick and took the car back.

^ Good for you for taking the door apart. I was afraid I wouldn't get everything back in place, so I never opened it.

There are several Infiniti parts dealers that are online and sell dealer parts at a discount. It sounds like you got a good deal on ebay though.

hey!!

well guttin the window appart you have to be really, really carefull, I actually took pictures of every single step i did to put everything back together properlly, there is about 25-30bolts in there, and 1 bracket to take out, also prying the handle to get those 2 hidden screws is kinda tricky, it really feels like one of those little plastic clips is going to snap. The is also 4 clips on the bottom of the door and 2 on the side that you have to undo, once thats done you have to lift up on the whole plastic assembly of the door, and you have to take that lil control box cover off so you can slide it thru the hole and then you can set the door aside, after that you have to take out about 15 bolts on the inside metal panel and have to be extremely careful pryin it out of there, you have to get someone to lift up on the window while you are taking it out and then you can access the inside motor. Next time I take the door out i will do a DYI for you guys.. I did pickup the motor for pretty cheap at RockAuto.com.
A-1 CARDONE 471376 (47-1376) Power Window Motor
Motor $ 113.79
Core Charge $ 30.00
$ 143.79
Shipping $ 35.82 (Internation Express Shipping)
Order Total $ 179.61

If you could make a DIY, that would be helpful for someone.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, i just got my 03 silver AT coupe, and i too noticed that there was this clicking sound that would come from the drives door, and eventually, the window stopped rolling down.

At first the driver's window would roll down occasionally, like every other time i turned the car on and off, but now, nothing works at all.

Is there a diagram of the door i can get online somewhere? I don't know where to get a hold of the service manual for this car without dropping lots of cash for it.

hey bud.. its pretty easy man, first you need a new window motor go to http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak,IN...2-DOOR%20COUPE and order a new window motor its the cheapest place i found.. its around 145$ Canadian Shipped.. to take out the door panel is pretty easy man here is a good tutorial with pictures to get behind that panel.. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=318091 once you take it out there is about 20 bolts you need to take off and 2 wire clips.. then pry the inside metal panel out and set it aside.. take the 3 motor screws put the new one in, put everything back together.. you can take pictures of the inside door panel so u dont forget where al the bolts go.. use a friend to help you too, it took me 35minutes and the new motor was in and the door was back together..

Is there any way to confirm if it's the motor that is causing the problem outside of actually changing the motor out? I did the "hold the window switch up and shut the door" method *my window was stuck down) and that at least helped me to get my window up but obviously I still need to address the issue. It seems to me the motor is the culprit but who knows.

it is the problem.. ur control are rarely the problem.. just swap it out im about 99.9% it is the problem.. these motors are just not manifatured good.. they get carbonized real fast and the brushes inside wear out real fast aswell..

If these motors are anything like the 350z motors, you can just clean the inside of the motor with rubbing alcohol and qtips.

Yeah but 99% of the time it's the motors in the window.

Ok then, I'll give it a shot. I haven't called the dealer yet but I guarantee their quote is going to be absolutely retarded. Now that I think about it, perhaps I'll call just to help remind me of why I should be doing this little project myself.

Has anyone ever tried to snag one of these window motors from a junkyard? I don't know about price but I wouldn't mind wrenching on the door of a junked out G before I go to town on my own!
