NEED HELP-dissapointed with AVIC set up

I installed an avic d3 and my factory sub doesnt work leaving the remaining speakers sounding not so hot. i used the metra rca for the door speakers, but how do i connect the factory sub. Do i need to connect a seperate amp and sub. I have a 2003 sedan, any help would be appreciated.
