Factory Alarm Question

I don't think my hood switch is not working properly. I've set my alarm and released the switch simulating a break-in to the engine bay and my alarm did not go off. Has anyone replaced this hood switch? Are their any tests that I can do before I have the switch replaced? Any information would be helpful.

Is the hood switch even connected to the alarm? I didn't think it was, but i could be wrong.

did you wait at least 1 minute after arming the alarm to test it? most cars will not go into arming mode until 30 seconds after you lock the car.
