sirius sat help

hey guys im hoping one of you can help me with my sirius sat, as ive been searching everywhere on the site for an answer (no luck). when i bought the car used it was working fine, after a couple of weeks it stopped, i called sirius and renewed the subscription and everything was alright.

recently out of no where when i went into my car the screen is showing no signal, i called sirius and everything seems to be fine on their part, they sent new signals but no luck. i was thinking its some sort of electrical problem, maybe a burnt fuse or bad antenna (?)

if anyone can help i would really, really appriciate it. =/
thanks for looking!

Have you made any changes to the car lately?

Was the Sirius factory-installed? Or was it added later?

You could check the connections on the receiver (in the trunk on the left hand side under the carpet and spacer).

That's weird. I would definitely look at the SAT tuner and at least check to see if there are any loose connections. Shouldn't take you long since there's only two, the wiring harness and the antenna.

If the receiver isn't detected like if it was not be getting power or something your radio would not even switch to it so the fact that is is saying no signal is telling me it is an issue with your antenna. Most likely need to just replace the antenna. Hopefully it is not something inside the receiver itself but I doubt it is. I would double check the antenna connection to the receiver by taking it off and looking at it making sure that nothing is damaged at the connector then trace the wire making sure that it did not get a hole rubbed into it against some metal or something along the way then lastly where the wire connects to the antenna. If all looks well just try replacing the antenna. I actually have a few sirius antenna's so I can hook you up if you want, just pay shipping. If you do try another antenna, before wasting your time installing it just connect it and set it outside the car to see if you can get signal. Good luck!

I had a similar situation with my tuner. It is possible for the tunersto go bad. I had one go bad that was replaced under the one year warranty, since I added it myself.

Just switch out the XM tuner with the Sirius tuner. You can use the existing antenna that's on there so you don't need to by another one.

Don't by the ones from your local electronic stores. Make it easier on yourself and by the OEM tuners for our cars. You can buy yours here:

do you have a link to a Sirius retailer that will stand behind this? I have made similar inquiries and have been told the antenna needs to be switched as well.

yes ur tuner or antennae might malfunction, but I would also unplug the battery for about 10 mins and plug it back in to see if that would reset the tuner...good luck

No link, but I have installed Sirius tuners to 3 of my friend's cars that originally came with XM, 1 Altima and 2 G35s. The first was a G35 that was equipped with XM from the dealership, and he had bought the Sirius tuner and a Sirius antenna. I swapped out the XM tuner for the Sirius and figured I'd take a shot to see if the XM antenna works with it (becuase XM antenna was painted the same color as the car) and voila it worked so he just returned the Sirius antenna.
