what subwoofer to get.
the reason i ask is because i noticed dynamat sells a license plate kit to stop the rattling...i'll buy it just in case
i would definitely go with the 4080 enclosure, but i noticed they only sell 10" enclosures.
i'm definitely a believer of the W3 subs though...i don't even consider going from a 13w7 to W3's a downgrade. I heard 2 10w3v2's in this convertible ///M6 at XDC motorsports...holy smokes, best SQ i've ever heard from 10"s...they sounded like monster 15"s but hit every note

i personally dont go with 10's
i went with
two 12W3V2's made the box's my self and mixed it up with a mtx 8001 amp
my favorite amp of all times
stinger wiring and cap
cost me $440 for both the subs(i get hookup's)
$250 for 8001 mtx amp from ebay
wiring i got by the foot for $110 including rca's
and boxes didnt cost me anything
you can hear me coming down the block easily at -5 bass
never really turn it up more then -3 hurts my head

. Now I'm a old fart
. Darn kids with loud music
.When I get around to it I'm going to mount 1 10" on one side of the trunk with an nice amp to compliment the stock Bose system .

Ok so I just got back from car toys. They priced me a nice JL 10w3v3 and a 250w JL amp with a custom box and all the wiring and install for $1206 still seems a bit steep but it is all quality parts. What do you guys think?
ew.. i paid $520 installed for my JL10w3v2 and a boss 500wattrms amp.. even if that amp is better than the one i bought and a custom box, you shouldn't be paying more than $700-$750 installed
so I should go in there tomorrow and ask for that sub, that box, install, wiring and an amp that would all together run me $750 max?
I think I might do that. The JL amp I want to say was either $299 or $399 not sure. Im thinking $299 though.
edit: the amp they tried to sell me was for $399

I think im going to do the install myself now. the wiring diagrams are on here somewhere and with your guys' help with finding the signal and remote wires, and help with taking the car apart I guess. it should be pretty easy.
can I count on some support from you guys?

are you hooking your amp to the stock deck?
your making a sub and amp install sound way more complicated then it is
basicly
powerwire= positive side of battery
ground= drill a hole or find a bold on the chassis to screw it to
remote=go to remote on back of deck
rca= go to the back of deck
two speaker wires go to the back of the sub from the amp
and YOU HAVE BASS
hooking it up to stock deck
Rca's go to back of adaptar which you connect to the two rear speakers
and your done

dude you can get a jl 500/1 off ebay for 200-250 dollars shipped. buy all the equipment elsewhere and just have it installed somewhere. don't buy the equipment at the custom radio shop cause that's how you get raped. also, don't go with a cheap amp as mentioned by some of the members above...don't cheap yourself on the amp, it's the most important component
look into memphis or jl for amps...seriously, don't cheap yourself on the amp. i've seen people put $200 1600watt crap amps on 15w6's...blew the amp a week later. buy yourself good equipment and you don't have to worry about it later down the road...

JL 500/1 (used) ~$200-$250
Wiring Kit ~$50-$80
enclosure ~$150-$350
total - $550-$830
additional stuff (unnecessary)
dynamat - $100
capacitor and wiring ~$100
Looking to get an Alpine 300w rms monoblock amp. the JL 10w3. streetwires 8 gauge kit, and a pac swi bass ****. rca converter box. Also cusom box in back. total $875 with install and warranty from Car Toys.
I know the install is not bad I've done lots of em, just not on a Bose system with an amp. I did not know which wires were the signal or remote. I have not opened it up to look at it yet but I figured it was not too obvious. Ground and power are cake.

i say that's a good deal plutonium...go with it...you're gonna save your valuable time and a lot of headaches and heartache...i've done many installs, but i plan on taking my G to xdc and pay to play
