Rear speaker install/ Air Bag

I read on here earlier that the side curtain airbag gets disconnected when removing the upper side panels...

Will the car still run with these removed? I am looking to get a headstart on my speaker install but I still need to drive the car.

Thanks,

J.

Re: Rear speaker install/ Air Bag

This only applies to the read deck speakers.

I don't think the air bag gets disconnected but the service manual does say remove side curtain air bag module fixing bolts. This is the step before removing the rear seat belts and from the picture the airbag goes in front of the seatbelt behind the upper trim panel. Remember to disconnect the battery if your messing with the airbags.

I'm not sure you need to do this as no one else has mentioned it before. Maybe you don't have to completly remove the seatbelt to get the rear deck finisher out.
