GPS Mount

Has anyone tried mounting a portable GPS in place of the ash tray below the head unit? It looks like a 3.5" screen portable unit will fit in there.

The Double Din setup is already too low, i think that by putting it any lower you are just asking for trouble. Tough to see the road and the navi at the same time when it down there.
