will 05+ A/C control work on 04?

i'm planning on doing DD install on my 04 this summer and was wondering if the A/C control on the 05+ will work on an 04 with some modification. i'm willing to cut some plastic to make it fit. so my question, is the plug the same or are they different? i like the rotary **** on the 05+ better then the up and down push button on the 04. thanks..

i guess you could try to retrofit the 05 onto the 04 but you would have dremel some dash plastic to make it fit. might turn out ghetto though....

another thing to consider is if the ac harness for the 2003-04 is compatible with 05-07 ac controller harness....might or might not fit....(i don't think that this compatibility has ever been addressed).

hope this helps...I would just go with what we know will fit (and be compatible for sure).....

I'm going to say no. The buttons are different for one.

i think the question was whether or not an 05-07 AC controller could be retrofitted to an 03-04 dash...

but...to address the issue of retrofitting an actual 05-07 dash trim to an 03-04 dash trim....this has been answered.

there are several parts to the 05-07 dash that are not present in the 03-04 models. also, the plastic clips locations are different between the two models. the ac vent attachments are different. the clock finisher trim is different. the driver and passenger side panels of the HVAC unit are different.

I did post some pictures from the 05-07 Infiniti Service Manual back in 2005 in this forum (don't know if the pictures are still up) which showed these differences. If you compare the DIY stickies at the top of this forum of the 03-04 DD conversion and the 05 DD conversion that Kia( a.k.a. g35rider) posted, you can see how the dash disassembly differs between the two.

In terms of the 05 vs the 03-04 AC controller, they are quite different. The 05 AC has a full face while the 03-04 AC controller has its buttons fit into the dash finisher slots and is not a full face. again, I don't know what the ac controller harness compatibility is between the 2 different models.

hope this helps....
