Yes it is Bose. I have 5 sets of wires with a gray sleeve on them...

Just like you have shown in your picture. So by tapping into these I am getting to the wires before they are being amplified, right? I think it just 'clicked' in my head.

So to sum it up I just attach the RCA's to the Rear Speaker outputs, right?

RR+=L
RR-=P

RL+=BR
RL-=Y

What color does "L" represent? Christ I am embarrassed.

Light Blue, IIRC.

Anyone know if the outputs from the stock Bose hu to the stock amps are standard line level so if I installed an aftermarket hu I could just hook the preouts to the stock amp?

I actually spoke to tech support at metra and they told me the amp uses low level inputs but use high voltage so if you get an LOC its best to turn the adjustable gain all the way up. You can also use an aftermarket preamp outs +4v recomended. "Less will sound like crap" quoted from tech.. I'll be doing it without the loc and see what happens to the factory bose amp..

Sorry, the diagrams are good, but not *that* good without tearing into it myself.
I understand what pyrodonic was asking. Looking at the diagram, you'll see an AMP ON, wire, +B, and B (ground) all going to the Woofer (sub). It apears that the factory Bose sub has it's own amp that isn't shown as a seperate component on the wiring diagram. Why else would a sub get a amp on wire?

With that being said, I wouldn't mess with the wires coming out of the rear door amp (#8 and #21), going to the factory sub. You never know if any of the signals are altered/go through a crossover, inside that amp.

Going to hook my sub/amp up this weekend....
Thanks to everyone for the info on this.

Look at the wiring schematic again.
The stock sub has it's own amp. The main bose amp takes the left and right channels, converts it to a mono signal and outputs through #21 & #8, and sends it to the sub amp un-amplified (but possibly equalized). Otherwise the diagram wouldn't show an amp on wire, +B, & -B going to the subwoofer......... That's all. You should tie into the wires before the main amp and forget about #21 & 8. The diagram doesn't show a separate box for the sub amp, it's shown as one unit.
Of coarse I've based this all on looking at the wiring schematic, because I haven't actually done mine yet. I'll know more on Sunday.

You want to bypass the amp period, so yes you are correct. 8 and 21 come out of the amp so they are not used. The reason I made this was on the coupe the wires came in one side and out the other. The sedan they share a harness. This is simply showing what wires are what from the HU.

Im still confused (sorry its been a long week). Why are you wondering about the little sub? Were you going to amplify the 2ohm sub with the new amp? The wires that are wrapped in the sleves are unamplified wires and thats all you need. In this thread a couple members and me all had success so dont worry it will work lol.

Shoot me a PM if you wanna.

Hey guys, great write-up for the Sedan wiring guide. I understand that the 2003 Coupe w/ Bose package might be a little different? -- I have one of the 2003's that has the power drain issue from the stereo, and looking to install an amp kill switch. Does anyone have any insight on which wire should be tapped into to accomplish this? Thank you!

The main power wire or ground will do it.

Great! Can someone please help me with which wiring harness it would be? There's a large blue one with 24 pins and a smaller one with 6.

Sorry, I'm not too great at reading schematics! Also, as I understand it, the thicker black wire would be the ground and I can put a 12V DC switch and run 16 gauge wire in between it, correct?

Just don't use anything smaller than what's already being used, especially for a ground/power wire.

You're best doing the power wire though, should be Yellow w/ Red stripe, and have a constant +12v.

But I must say, you really should be replacing the amp with something better instead.
