signal discharge on start up
Hi all,
I just got my alpine PDX 4-100 amp PROFESSIONALLY installed to run my Type X speakers. I already have another sub and amp system in there.
Long story short...cus it is a long story. The speakers seem to have a slight "buzz" comming from them even when they are not on. And for the subs...who knows what they did... every time I turn on the car there is this huge bass discharge from the subs. They say that b/c I dont have an aftermarket deck the is going to be some signal feed back through the speakers and as for the sub...that amp as to be powered up when the car starts, not when the deck is on, there for there is a signal charge build up that is discharged everytime you start the car.
It has been back 7 plus times and their install sucks so bad!!! They are dirty and fu*# everything up all the time. But is this BS or legit?
on a side note is there a double din that allows me to keep my dual zone climate???
Thanks all!

The noise you hear is probably the amp gains turned up too much.
The thump is probably your amp turning off, which happens with some amps. It's called turn off thump.
They should have connected your sub amp's turn on lead to wherever they connected the Alpine's turn on lead.
Do you have the Bose system? The Bose amp has a turn on wire.
At one time, both my G sedan and G coupe had aftermarket amps (one a JL and the other an Xtant) connected to the stock Bose HU and neither has the issues you describe. My sedan is still connected in that manner.

The gains are at 75% (im getting a bigger amp soon), if I turn it up any more the subs just rattle with signal feedback....no music.
I had the bose system, but they cut the amp out and by passed it all together, the just took the signal off it I think. The funny thing is I never had this problem when I had the subs installed before..not sure what they did but now it is like that.
