sirus satellite signal .. need help
I just got sirus satellite installed it is on the driverside window on the left side stuck on the window with the antenna on the dashboard underneath the radio. My signal is weak, the satellite always is searching for signal and i can't get through a whole song, its on and off, really frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know where to put the antenna to get the best signal. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks
if you don't want it on the outside, put it on the rear speaker deck. it fits in one corner or the other. i had mine there on the g35, and now on the 37 and never have an issue with reception. however, this was with an oem sat receiver that mounts in the trunk. i don't know of another option without putting it on the outside of the car.
you can route the antenna along the door sill and through the back seat to the trunk. most installers will route it around the back window trim to the center of the back window.
if you want to do it the easy way, you can do the following...i've done it on my expolorer and two other cars i've installed remote units on.
*take the antenna and place it centered and directly in front of the sunroof
*open the sunroof and remove the rubber trim around the headliner.
*open the door and remove the rubber trim along the top half of the headliner.
*feed the antenna wire along the front edge of the sunroof. find a place where the wire wont bind and run it between the roof metal and the headliner.
*feed the antenna wire in the direction of the open door and run all the wire out until most of it is fed through.
*re-install the trim around the sunroof/headliner making sure that the wire lays flat along the inside of the sunroof bay.
*run the antenna wire down the a-pillar and reinstall the rubber gasket/trim along the top of the door/headliner.
*connect the antenna to your receiver.
edit: i've never had a problem with the operation of the sunroof or have ever had the wire snag or kink.

I have mine hidden under the deck lid and signal is very good. It will not be as good as the roof or trunk lid on the outside though. Running the cable around the back window is pretty easy overall.
Before you redo the installation work though you might test the signal on the roof first. you could have a bad antenna or receiver. I've had a few sirius tuners and the harware quality is just ok. Love the product though.
