i was expecting something like $50-$90 since hes just basicly hooking up the harness and putting the antenna on.
Jacka$$ quoted me $695.00 without tuner.

He's full of crap. If you ARE prewired (you have the sat sticker in the door frame), then take it to Circuit City or somewhere equally cheap. It's a SIMPLE install, you could do even yourself.

If you AREN'T prewired (Just b/c you have a SAT button doesn't mean you're prewired), you need to get the cable that runs from the head unit to the trunk, and have THAT installed too-- $$. I got my sat receiver for ~350, the wire for ~50, and the install for ~150. The Infiniti dealer quoted me about a grand.

Cool. Check out grubbs infiniti to get the receiver... they usually have them pretty cheap. Good luck.

That $695 sounds like what my dealer wants to install the harness (my radio is sat-ready, but I'm missing the pre-wire harness). They shouldn't charge more than 1 hour of labor to install the sat radio box and antenna.

As the other posts say, if your car is prewired, then installing the receiver is trivial. BUT if the dealer insists on installing the antenna per the instructions, it does take some time to do correctly. There are lots of parts and some cutting and repainting required. It's definitely a detailed job and you don't want the new kid doing it and getting it crooked or causing a leak. The good news is that almost everyone who has put the antenna inside on the rear deck, though, has been happy with the results, and this is even easier than installing the receiver!

...and if you tell them to put it on the trunk lid, it'll take about an hour of labor, tops.
