Eclipse AVN2454 Install PICs /video
I installed my AVN 2454 last night along with a Rosen TV tuner. Install was painless and simple, thanks to the g-owners.com guide and all the tips in this forum. I am going to upgrade the rest of the system soon.. I just cant make up my mind on speakers.
You can download a short video below of the radio in action.

Re: Eclipse AVN2454 Install PICs /video
thanks... yes the eq is very cool.
I was going to do the Kenwood 7015 but opted for the Eclipse since it is "all in one".
The Kenwood is nice because there is a Sat tuner available now, plus the add on TV tuner integretes into the menus.
Overall I am pleased with the Eclipse... besides not having the sat tuner yet the only other complaint is not enough fm presets (only 6?!!) . Plus I am confused as to why Eclipse choose to put the better screen (VGA) on the 2494. Maybe it had something to do with the font sizes on the NAV screen. My buddy has the 2494 and the screen is MUCH sharper...
Overall I am pleased.. and glad I opted not to buy the factory navigation.

Awesome!
Are you planning on fabricating a trim piece to fill the surrounding gap or is it not noticable enough to do a trim piece?
Isn't the AVN screen as good as the AVX screens? 1.2-.3 million pixels? I thought the AVN as well as the AVX screens were just as good as the Alpin IVA901 screen....

There is a trim ring, its hard to tell because its black. I am contemplating recessing the radio more and painting the black part of the radio as well as the trim ring willow to match the dash.
The AVX has the most pixels...
The AVN2454 has an excellent screen but its not in the same league as the Alpine or the AVX.
For the $$$ the AVN2454 is the best bang for the buck. I went with it for ease of install and no hidden boxes. My first choice was to go with Kennwood again but I liked the Nav on the 2454.
I have had four different Kenwood video pieces all of which required numerous hideaway brains. In a G space is premium and trying to hide all those boxes would be a major pain. The Alpine stuff is not any better...
Edited by lorinserbenz on 04/23/04 02:13 PM.

Whoa... the unit is NICE. I dig the screen in the double din....
Question: Security?
I know that Eclipe has that passcode protection thing, but honestly - if someone steals yuor unit - Its gone. There is no way around that. Is the face detachable? And if it is, isn't it a little large to carry?
I would rather have my car look stock inside, to prevent snoopy eyes from having anything to look at...

"I am contemplating recessing the radio more and painting the black part of the radio as well as the trim ring willow to match the dash.

Do you think it's possible to recess it to the point so that it is completely flush?
