Weird stereo goblin! Please help kill

Hi All,
.....This is a weird issue but here goes.
I am powering my 2 kicker subs with a pdx 1.1000 everything works great when the trunk lid is open! When the lid is closed and the car is started there is a huge signal discharge through the subs and the amp cuts power and goes in to saftey mode. I tired starting the car with the trunk open next...all is good. Then I slowly closed the trunk lid to see what happens. All is good untill about 3" to close...then the signal discharge starts building strength..at 1 inch to close the amp cuts out.

WHAT THE HELL!!

My first guess will be a short from a pinched wire or you tapped into the wrong wire that cuts power when the dome light turns off as the trunk closes.

So the plot thickens....I tested the subs outside the car with trunk closed, the work fine, I tested them in the back seat with trunk closed, Fine. I tested them in the trunk with the lid up...all good, then with the lid down, it was messed.
All the wiring looks good, not sure what it could be???

WTF mate?

It has to be somehow wiring related unless there is contact being made between the trunk lid and a componant, possibly the amp wiring? Are your subs mounted with the magnets exposed by chance? Possibly creating a magnetic draw to the trunk lid?

If it is a signal issue, I would check the interconnects going to the amp to make sure they are not being pinched somehow.

When you tested the subs out of the trunk, were they in the enclosure that is in your trunk? In other owrds, did you take the entire enclosure with the subs out of the trunk or just the subs?

ok try this for me please... leave the sub in your trunk and leave the trunk closed... but this time drop your rear seats.... does it still work?

You might be creating a region of high enough pressure that when the sub hits its not able to move a column of air - causing a back current in your speaker coils... just a REMOTE possibility... check it out if you have time...

Hi Gilley, I took the whole enclosure out of the trunk and turned them on fine..

Bryan, the subs are boxed up so there shouldn't be magnetic interference, but I will double check the signal wire!!

I just went down now to try that Shabarivas asked...but it looks like the amp wont even turn on anymore...
I am taking it to a shop on thrusday to diagnose...
