Question in regards to mobile electronics for my Sedan

I recently puchased an 06 Sedan and to my understanding the dd center consel is on back order, the jdm one to be exact. Well I had an ephiany and thought of placing a lap top in the the car. the only thing I was wondering is is there a company who make a mount for a lap top or whether or not I can go to a mobile audio store and have one fabricated. I like the way the stock center looks and I don't want to butcher the G to much for what I want. I plan to incorp sat radio, a 4080 box with a 10in sub and amp, and the lap top. Please, any suggestion would be appreciate, oh yeah, I need to get an ipod hook up as well.

Haven't seen anyone with a laptop mount. You could probably find what you're looking for on a police officer supply website and just modify it a little for your G.

You will get a cleaner installation with the JDM DD kit. It will look like OEM.

What sat radio tuner are you going to get? The problem is that to run the computer audio into the OEM HU, you will need the PAC Nissan adapter, which plugs into the OEM sat cable location, so you won't be able to have the computer and the OEM sat tuner together like that.

Understandable, but I wasn't going to run the computer audio thru the car. I figure the Lap would be loud enough for everybody to hear and with no distortion.

I don't think that will sound too good at all. Even the factory Blose will sound better than laptop speakers.

Okay maybe your not understanding, I'm not going to play music from the lap top, it would be used for GPS as well as the occasional movie to be viewed by guest while driving. I've had DVD players in other cars before and those with Subs intergrated do not sound very well. You have to tune and re tune your levels when it comes down to switching from dvd to audio. I took a trip inside an suv with nothing but base radio, sitting in the back (third row) I could clearly hear every part of the movie from the lap top with very little distortion. Now Ask yourself this.....In a G... how loud does your lap top need to be in order to hear it clearly?

You're not going to get good sound through two 1 inch speakers.

I can hear my laptop down the hall in my house, but you can only get so much quality and volume from tiny speakers.

So when you're passengers aren't watching a movie they'll have a laptop sitting over their lap? My wife used her laptop during our cross-country trip and it was pretty cumbersome in the fron seat of the G.

I semi-understood the laptop idea for music but then you lost me on the movie for guests and using the laptop for the sound. Seems like a lot more trouble than just going double-din.

Another thing to worry about is having that laptop mounted is asking for a broken window. Even if it's not mounted, just the stand their will have people thinking there is something in the car worth taking.

Okay so if I were to go with a dd, then I have to worry about a professional installer being able to hook up everything back up correctly. Also since i have bluetooth and I get an aftermarket setup then doesn't that become disengaged? What do I do if later I want to sell the car or trade it in for a newer G. I have a close friends in Florida and La who work at known dealerships and they show me what they do when a modified car comes in, it's called wholesale or auction, and if I revert back to stock then I got to spend time on ebay or this forum and try to sell off what stuff I took off the car and for much less. I see your point but can you see mine?

Don't sell your stock parts. When it comes time to sell the car, return it to stock and sell off your DD parts.

what about the blue tooth? I've seen aftermarket ones look like alittle turd hanging from the roof and plus I hear that you lose control from your steering wheel, is this true?

As long as you keep all the OEM pieces, going back to OEM will be no problem when you sell the car. Assume you get a DD system. As soon as you plug in the factory radio, your steering wheel controls and your BT would work just like the day you bought your car.

You can retain your steering wheel controls with your new hu via an interface made by PAC. It is fairly simple to wire up and program.

About the BT, most manufactures use external microphones, so you would have to mount it somewhere whether it be in the cardholder, top of a pillar, or near the mirror.

Appreciate the info, would you know where to look for the link for the PAC?
