AFTER MARKET NAVI HELP
AFTER MARKET NAVI HELP
Hey , i search this whole forum and really didnt get anything about a aftermarket navi.
can someone please help me out. i want to get a navi system, that i can put in the OEM navi compartment (center dash) but i dont want to change the din/dash. is this possible. what are my options?
is it possible for me to just put the screen in the center compartment and put the navi system in the upper glove box
thanks.

Re: AFTER MARKET NAVI HELP
ok there are TONS of info on this site regarding this. try searching by eyeball... meaning, look at the thread topics here and just read thru them...anyway...here are your options:
1) Get the double-din dash kit for $380 to $400 and you can install whatever you want in there. Usuallly aftermarket nav systems run from $1500 to $2500.
2) Get a 6.5" or 7" screen and mount it on the top and get a fiberglass modification done so that it sits flush. This works OK but the bad thing is that it is so high up and vulnerable to sunglare. You would mount the "brains" of the NAV either in the upper glove box, or under the seat, or even in the trunk.
3) https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...=5&part=2&vc=1 Do this but you will lose airflow.
4) cant find the pics at the moment but you could modify the lower part of the dash where the ashtray is and put a hide-away screen there, or AVIC-N1, then move the hazard button elsewhere.

Re: AFTER MARKET NAVI HELP
heres a old post of the nav i had installed. i got the part from infiniti and had the alpine installed. the only thing is that you have to pull it up and down manually.
Re: AFTER MARKET NAVI HELP
RINO: Take a look at this earlier post. The location above the center instrument cluster works out fine, and does not obstruct forward vision. IMHO this is a far better location than the factory install location where you have to really turn your head to the right to see any screen information. With my placement, the vehicles ahead are in my direct line of site, and I can glance down to see any screen information. This StreetPilot does give oral turn by turn instructions.
