I've been looking for a quality place to get my G tinted. So far I've not found a place that instills any confidence.

Went to visit a friend last weekend who has a 4.8l X5 and her tint is spectacular!! I want mine done like hers!!

Problem is she doesn't know who did it. She says it is not OEM but was done before she bought the car. The tint is the clearest I've ever seen. More importantly, it goes all the way to the edge of the glass, I couldn't see any hint of the film edge at the ends of the glass. I even rubbed edges with my fingernail and couldn't find it. I also couldn't see even a hint of air bubbles under the popcorn around the edges of the rear glass. It was perfect.

If it is film and goes to the edges, it could peel, but I inspected and couldn't find any hint of peeling anywhere. I couldn't even find an edge. It just looked fantastic. Could it be chemically tinted? If not, how do I find someone that does a good job like this?

 

Sounds like factory tint which is part of the glass on the back. Otherwise the dots on the edge would be a little hazzy or white. The front windows would be a different story.
Its hard to help when we don't even know where you are.

 

Where are you located? Just google tint places around your area and call one up. Depending on what you want, paint or film make sure you get quality. Paint is your best bet but will cost a little more money. If your going for film do 3M because they have a guarantee that the tint wont purple. Good luck
