I'm not an expert but the cap is going to help with dimming lights and steady power. It won't increase bass but will help provide the amp with a balanced supply of power.

8 fared? that's just overkill for 1 or 2 subs...

You wont get more mass, but it will help your car electronics and your light wont dim when the bass hits.

All you need is a 1 fared cap unless you're running a competition system. I had a 500.1 and 300.4 jl amp with a 12w6 and 1 cap was more than enough.

whoever tells you that you need an 8 farad cap is a 'fraud'. lol

it's "farad" btw, named after Faraday.

anyway, i'm of the opinion that you're first thing to do for dimming lights is to upgrade your "big 3" wiring, then get a higher output alternator. if that doesn't do the trick, then and only then should you get a cap. unless you just "want" one for the show of it.

dude.. wow...
i have/well i blew emm yesterday( hope waranty covers it)
but i had 2 JL w6 subs
each with its own amp
plus amp for the speakers
im pushing over 3000 watts of pure sexy music
and i only had two 1 farad cap's
all it does is act liek a second battery so that when the car battery starts to get drained the Cap uses its own stored power.
highly doubt u need it

a cap does help with light dimming,I also have a 8 fard cap, bought the cap awhile ago I was planning on running 2 1000/1 and 450/1 and 150x 4 alpine alot of power but at the end I only ran 1 1000/1 and 450/4 and the alpine 150x4 with a kicker eq30.it helps but not the sulotion.my baterry still dies every now and then if I park it for 24hr+ not always though.planning to upgrade the baterry and get a bigger alternator.as for the cap there is no problem with running a bigger cap..better off then having the cap too small for your system.

cap dose not give you more bass, it provides constant power to the amp. as far as size goes, you should get 1.0 farad per 1000 watt constant power.

20 farad here (plus a second battery), overkill but it's pretty and I have no flicker, no RPM bouncing.

you do need a bigger cap if you are pushing alot of power..people say cap does not help, try pushing 1000+ power without no cap and see what happens..true sometimes, for me a cap did help my system run better as far as extra power when the bass kicks and it does sound better try running with a cap and without and you will hear the diffrence and help with my headlight with the dimming problem.but I think for the long run it won't help as much as my battery will start to drain that's why I'm upgrading my battery and alternator.
