NAV Unit

Anyone know where to purchase the NAV Unit? A stock one would be nice, however, if anyone knows of a good model that fits in the cubby i'd be open to suggestions. Please Let me know.

PS: Pestilence - have you got a nav unit yet?

Thanks.

Re: NAV Unit

The oem nav costs in the neighborhood of 2,500. That's without the screen and misc parts like the antenna.

Re: NAV Unit

Woops misread his post. Thought he just wanted the nav unit. The whole system is close to 6k if you are piecing it together part by part, with the nav unit and screen costing the most.

Re: NAV Unit

Looks like the pioneer is the way to go. They mentioned something about a motorized screen, but nobody gave any model #'s, anybody know which one that is? I'm seriously considering this, since I didnt get the navi with my car.

Pestilence, what is your position on this? Since i know you didnt get the navi as well (in the same boat as me) and want a navi pretty badly. Let me know what you plan to do (if you dont mind).

Re: NAV Unit

I am planning on having a Kenwood Navi unit installed next week. The screen/head unit is a Kenwood KVT-911 which I am told by my installer, will fit in the cubby mounted vertically and the cubby cover hinged in the back, so I can cover up the unit while not in use. The Navi unit is a Kenwood KNV-Da2100. The screen/head unit also has a dvd player and tv tuner. I will post pics as soon as I have it installed.

Re: NAV Unit

wondering, by looking at the pics on the kenwood site, it seems to have its own receiver and insert for dvd discs, including the play button etc. do you plan to make the whole unit visible or just the screen?

Re: NAV Unit

Wow it looks pretty nice..

Where is it going to be mounted? And is that a motorized screen or like an in-dash screen?

Re: NAV Unit

pest im wondering, if the bottom part is hidden int he compartment, how will he hit the play button etc... unless he wants the whole unit visible..does this also mean theres no need for a dvd-rom in the upper glove compartment?

Re: NAV Unit

The unit is motorized and will mount vertically in the cubby. The controls for the dvd, tv, etc. can be accessed using the touch screen, so the only button I need to access will be the one to raise the screen, which is located in the upper right corner. And yes it does play dvd's and tv. I plan on having the Navigation unit mounted in the "long glove box." I will have them install a FM modulator so I can hear the DVD/tv audio through the BOSE system, as the sound from the BOSE to me sounds fine. The NAVI system has it's own speaker. Just waiting on the equipment to arrive UPS (Monday) before I can have it installed. The installer said it will probably be about $500 for the install.

Re: NAV Unit

I look at the price you paid for that body kit and I say to myself, "Hmm.. that would make a killer gaming computer... or maybe even a laptop."
