Playing MP3s in the 2008 G35

I am posting this here as the other forum I tried to ask this question to does not seem to be as active as this one.

So I am not an Ipod person... I hate their DRM crap and I want my Mp3 players to be one step above a normal hardrive. I put files on it, I play them. That is why I buy creative, cowon, iriver, whatever...

Anyway, I am trying to get the best NON Ipod mp3 playback, and I an need some feedback in terms of many of the different techniques.

BTW... I have the nav system with the 6 CD changer in back and the HD in the front.

1 - Does the CD player and the changer accept Data DVDs? Just a general question... not really a good option.
2 - It seems that the CD changer in the back (I have the nav system in my 2008) does not read data CDs... is that correct????
3 - How good is the flash card reader... I can get a 32 gig flash card which is a LOT of data.
4 - Is there a hack to turn the Ipod plug into a normal USB plug where I can plug in a normal MP3 player?
5 - After all that.. should I just get an Ipod for my car? I hate this options...
