Window control with aftermarket alarm

I've been seeing/hearing a lot about what all is needed to control the windows of our Gs with an aftermarket alarm. Most car audio places are selling window control modules for about $120, plus about another $100 to install. Unfortunately, these modules don't work.

All you need is a $2 standard SPDT automotive relay. If you hold an extended pulse on the DOOR LOCK wire the windows will go up, if you hold an extended pulse on the DOOR UNLOCK wire they will go down. To make this work with your alarm you will need one AUX channel that outputs a signal for as long as the button is held down. If you have two channels that behave like this then you can skip the relay and hook it up directly. The way this is setup whenever the system is armed and the AUX button is held down the windows will go up, when the system is disarmed and the AUX button is held the windows will go down.

It's also possible to wire your AUX channel directly to the UNLOCK wire so only have control of the windows going down from the AUX channel and then use a pulse timing relay to roll the windows up EVERY time you arm the car. There are benefits/drawbacks to each way....

Any questions feel free to contact me,

Kevin
