Bose speaker replacement question.. Infinity crossover question..

I am going to replace my Bose speakers with the Infinity Reference in the front..

My question is do those of you who have installed them before just directly connect them to the existing wiring or do you use the crossover that comes with the Infinity's..

I am sure that I will get my answer as soon as I take the door panal apart but I want to ask some people who have already walked down this road.

Thanks

You will want to use the Infinity crossover that comes with your new speakers. The stock crossover is just a capacitor soldered on to the speaker if I remember correctly. The Infinity crossover has 6 terminals on it. Two for the speaker in, Two for the woofer and two for the tweeter. This crossover is designed specifically for these speakers and you need to use it.

Derzigster, when did you get your infinity's and how do you like them. I was thinking of getting a set also but heard that lately there quality has started to slip quite a bit.

That's what I figured just wanted to be certain..

I was at Car Toys last night and heard the Reference and Kappas.. There was no comparison between the two of them.. The Reference's were far better than the Kappas..

It has been that way for as long as I can remember too and I have been into car audio for about 15 years now.

I should be ordering them here very soon. I am also going to make some fiberglass enclosures for them in the stock locations and I am going to do the same for the rear 6x9 subs. I will be posting plenty of pics of the install.

+11111111 Here.

I have been looking at the Reference as well. Any issue with depth on the doors?

There was no comparison.. The Reference was far better than the Kappa

Chris.. I should be ordering them here in the next couple of weeks.. Ill let you know when I do the install. Its going to be a pretty big project because I am going to be doing some extensive sound deadening in the doors as well.

I just ordered the Infinity Reference 6020CS components.. 40sq ft of eDead.. and the ZEnclosures 1" spacers.

I cant wait to get it all installed!

The next step will be to add a little bit more bass. I have yet to decide on what I am going to do in that department. I am leaning toward a basslink but am still undecided.
