Front speaker recommendations?
Front speaker recommendations?
I picked up an '05 coupe recently, awesome car.
However the drivers-side speaker has gone out so I need to replace the front set up. Since I need to replace the speakers I might as well upgrade, my chief complaint with the sound so far is there isn't enough high-end and things sound muddy. The stock system in my '99 Jetta had more clarity then the Bose "Premium" system in the G35.
A guy I work with is knowledgeable with car audio installation and thought it would be a good idea that I post this question to find out what are good replacement speakers that don't require any fabrication to install.
I appreciate any suggestions.

If your car still has a warranty, you should have the speaker checked out by the dealer. Sometimes the sound going out on one speaker is a radio problem and not a speaker problem. You wouldn't want to upgrade to new speakers and still have the same problem. The dealership would probably try to deny coverage then because of the aftermarket speakers.
With the Bose system, you need to get 2 ohm speakers, which will limit what is available to you. You will also need an MDF spacer that you can buy from www.zenclosures.com. Other than that, the speaker upgrade is pretty straightforward.

welcome!
a lot of people on here have said great things about the Infinity Reference speakers (they are 2 ohm) as soon as im not 100% broke, i will be getting a set of them for my car here's a link...

and, according to what other people have said, dont let the Infinity Kappas trick you.... they are more expensive and SUPPOSED to be better, but many people have said that they dont sound nearly as good as the References
also, just a thought... take it to the dealer (if under warranty) get it all fixed up and THEN upgrade the speakers..... that way in case you sell the car later or something, you'll have a set of good speakers to put back in
lastly, i got a kick out of your screenname, roygbiv, lol
