Angry Rear Speaker/Panel Removal, '05 G35

I've been searching and prying stuff apart all day and cannot figure out how to remove the Bose panel that goes over the rear speakers without seriously warping/breaking stuff. I bought the car used so it has aftermarket Kenwood speakers in it now. When they installed it they only put 2 of 4 screws in each speaker to hold it down so there is some rattling coming from there.

I've been searching all day on here and the web and can not find any pictures or forums addressing how to remove this rear panel. YEARGH! I'm getting frustrated, any help?

Thumbs down

nevermind, I found the factory service manual under the DIY sticky "Factory Service Manuals". Looks like you have to remove EVERYTHING in the back seat area to get to it.

ok. i looked through the factory service manual & still don't understand how to remove the BOSE sub grill.

Factory Service Manual/ I Body/ EI/ 41

i dont want to take a risk of damaging the grill by using too much force.

your input is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, wish I could. The task was too tedious for what I was trying to do (rattling noise in speaker area), so I gave up. From the gist I get, you have to remove the rear seats, the interior rear side panels and finally the speaker panels. The bose faceplates are screwed in from the bottom and if you have speakers installed you can't access them until you go through this process. Maybe someone else knows of an easier way.

That's an accurate description of how to get to the Bose 6x9s. You have to take almost all of the interior out of the rear. I wish it was easier.

And Gilley would know. He has gone through this process numerous times.

Can I gain access to the rear speakers more easily through the trunk? The lining seems to come out fairly easily.

No. The 6x9s come out from the top. It would have made much more sense to bottom mount them.
