This is my third complete Car-PC/Audio system. I did one in my 300ZX, then Prelude and now my G35. Ive learned so much from reading the posts on this forum, I figured I'd share some of the pictures I took during the build. My goal was to keep it simple and somewhat lightweight.

The CarPC:

The Audio:

First I beefed up the grounding by making one of these (2x4 gauge 1x8 gauge):

Then I had to run the speaker wire through the door Molex connector...:

...By drilling giant hole through it:

And feeding the wires though:


Then I painted and premiered the speaker rings I bought from ebay:


All the speaker wires were routed under the rear seat to terminal blocks. I have 2 sets of wires to the kick panels and 2 sets into the door if I ever chose to enable my super-tweeters or add some 4 inch mids and go 3-way.

And then those wires go into a nice disconnect able plug that goes to my amp wire harness:

Then the back speaker area got some attention:



Then I pulled the 4 gauge power through the factory loom with a coat hanger:


Here is where everything went:

Then I went to an art supply shop and bought some foam core board they use to back pictures and cut a template, well it took 3 before I got it right:


I then traced that template out on a giant piece of fiberglass I laid out. The ripples were from the Baltic mat which tends to crease and leave resin deposits:

Which was a blast to cut:

Then I made a ring to lift the board off of the trunk floor:

And fiber glassed it to the back of the board:

I lost my camera when I was finishing up the install, but here is how it all turned out.

Everything mounted to the carpeted board:

The trunk with the FG board all carpeted and the components mounted. All the wires were run underneath the amps. I added handles on either side of the Zapco amp so the entire thing can be lifted out.

I’m really happy with the sound of the system, although I plan on switching the Phoenix gold RSD mids for something else in the future.
I tried to keep the weight that I added to the car to a minimal... the board with all the amps mounted weighed 10lbs more than the 32lb spare tire. The sub and enclosure added some ~40lbs and deadening added ~25lbs and I pulled out the ~5 lbs Bose amp.
So I had a net gain of about 100lbs, not bad.
