I made the mistake of asking my dealer what it would cost to have Sat radio installed in my 2003 G35 sedan, and now I'd like to pursue other options.

I talked to a local Best Buy and they said they'd install for a reasonable fee if I brought the equipment to them. With that said, I found the Grubbs site. Obviously I'll need to order the receiver and the antenna, but how do I know if I need to order the Sat Radio prewire cable?

1st you should check the door jambs for a sticker that says you are prewired for sat radio. You should also look in your trunk (coupe), next to the spare, there is a small white plug near the amp.

do a forum search..there are some pictures posted of it and info on the vin range of the prewired cars.

Does your 2003 G have a SAT button on the radio even?

Yes, I have a satellite button. And my service manager at the dealer says if i have the sat button than my car has the pre-wire cable, but I recall seeing somewhere that that statement isn't true...

That statement isn't true. As the previous poster said, look for the sticker in the driver door jamb.
