So I've had the CD Error F0 problem initially, which I've been skirting annoyance by using my Ipod as opposed to CDs. That's fine, though recently the temperature controls have gone nuts. Sometimes I'll be able to turn the temps up/down and change the fan setting and so forth, but most the time it sets itself and cannot be changed (usually whatever temperature it was on last, plus 'AC Auto' is the setting it decides on). It used to be I'd be able to smack the side of the console to get it to work, but not anymore.
With winter coming up, I can't take the chance of having no heat. I've got to get this handled.
Are these two different problems, or are they related to some electronics on the CD player that's causing both to happen? Just wondering because I don't necessarily need or want to send the CD player out to be fixed if if won't also fix the temp controls issue.
Thanks anyone

could be short or something drawing away the power needed to run
the hvac controls. they are an embeded system...well almost.

Yea, that's what I'm figuring. I don't know the inner workings of it enough but I can understand it all relating to one chip/circuit/etc. just as easily as I can see it relating to separate ones. I'm leaning towards one piece causing both issues, though. Hoping I can find someone who knows before I spend the time & money to have the CD player fixed for possibly no imperative reason.

OZZ - I feel your pain. First the CD ERR Fo message...so I used the iPod...then the HVAC ghosts. Still haven't found a fix for the CD ERR Fo...which I believe is the root of the prob. Let me know if you find a fix (outside of the Dealer!) and I will do the same.
Well, I ended up just grabbing a cheap OEM unit from another member here in the Marketplace. I haven't received/installed it yet but given the community I trust it'll work and my car will be back to normal. I don't think there's any "fix" to do that isn't a replacement or an actual repair, so this is the easiest way to go about it. Others have sent theirs out to be repaired at a shop but the downtime could kill ya - since I'm in Massachusetts and it's winter, not having heat for a few days to over a week is NOT on my wish list so I didn't want to do that. As it turns out I was lucky enough to grab the replacement OEM cheaper than the repair alone would've cost, so it's all good.

yea so whats up with that "CD ERR Fo" i got the bose system and my cd changer went out in like september... there has to be a way to fix it w/out taking it to the dealer... theres a locoal guy out here that fixes stock stereos but wants like $50 for estimate $60 to remove it then the price goes on from there.. thats to exspensive, for all im gonna spend i rather do a 2din setup... anyways if anybody comes up or know a diy on how to fix the cd changer POST IT UP! thanks!!
I just replaced it, which is more than likely the only sure-bet solution. If it weren't, we'd all know "the secret fix" by now.

thats very true.. but they way i see it if ur gonna replace it with a used one u find on the market place,ebay...etc,. eventually that one is gonna go out to riiight? And im shure there is a way to fix, ppl that know just dont say beacuse obouisly they make money off fixing them.

No guarantee that the replacement will have the same problem. They don't all develop it.Originally Posted by g3fly

Regarding how they're fixed...who knows. Could very well be bad circuitry or parts, which can't be obtained from unauthorized dealers/repair shops. In such a case, we're all SOL. I suspect if it were easy enough that anyone could do it, the secret would've been out long ago.
