JL Components?
Re: JL Components?
They are great IMO. Less scretchy than MB Quarts and great mid bass. I definitly recommend them.

Re: JL Components?
Lots of components are better than JL... but as for subs, they are one of the best. BUT (a big BUT) a sub I highly recommend is the Boston Acoustic 10.5LF (or bigger)... it takes an EXTREMELY small box (.5ft^3) and creates a sound so freakin' big, it's unreal. It can handle up to 1000+ Watts. Not too many other subs will sound as good as JL and BA. But if you don't mind using up a ton more space for your sub, you can go with JL and be happy.... good luck!

Re: JL Components?
It's all a matter of opinion really. You have to hear it for yourself and decide. No one can tell you one high end speakers is better than another. I like JL because they are not as bright a speaker and the company does more R&D than most others and continue to keep themselves at the top of the game. Alot of people like the MB Quart and Focals but for my ears I don't like really bright tweeters. But the Quarts and Focals are still great speakers its just my opinion, that's all.

Re: JL Components?
I demoed a pair of the XR components from JL. It was a decent setup with middle of the road performance that I would expect for the price. I thought for the same price range that the BA Pros were a bit better with better midbass and clarity. From there I could tell huge differences with the highends that I listened to. The BA Z6 and the MB Quart QSD216. Both had tons of midbass and very good clarity. The MBs had brighter tweets, but I think that can be tuned via crossover and EQ to suit your tastes. One reason the MBs are so bright is probably because of their frequency response range topping at 32khz.
I would recommend listening to the speakers. I have a friend who got a pair of Focal Polyglass components and they sounded really good. A great buy in my opinion and the highs were warmer with good clarity.
Good luck!

Re: JL Components?
You just have to listen.
Go to a Sound Advice store (maybe called Tweeter where you live. They carry all these brands.
I personnally like the bright sound of MB QUARTS but this debate could go on forever. Just listen.

Re: JL Components?
I have JL XRs and I love them. Yeah, the MB Quarts are very tinny with highs.. its personal preference.. but I agree.. if you don't hear them for yourself, its pretty tough to say one way or the other.
