Speaker Replacement in the Sedan

Has anyone replaced any of the speakers in the sedan? If so, with what and how much of a difference did it make? My biggest complaints thus far about the sound system are the poor crossovers for the front seperates and muddiness of the factory amp. By replacing the front seperates I am assuming you would be using the newer crossover that comes with the new speakers. That should improve the imaging.

Re: Speaker Replacement in the Sedan

I have the coupe with Bose... I just changed my front speakers to Kenwood Component.

After installed the new component speakers, the Mids & Highs are instantly better. Before the rear side speakers will mud the mid & high, it sounds like someone is speaking with their mouth close. Now, I am pretty satisfied with it although I don’t get the booming bass.

I wish I could my Soundstream Exact Component, but since I am only using factory amp, the Soundstream is too power hungry

gbech, that was the example I was trying to say. "speaking with their mouth closed". Too much bass when it's just playing FM radio.

Re: Speaker Replacement in the Sedan

I bought my Kenwood at a shop that my friend's know... One thing I like about them is they will actually recommend what to do and not do, unlike other places that I went to, that quote me over $2000 without listen to the system.

They only carry Kenwood... I bought it for 250 (with installation) + tax...

Gsedanman, at our next meeting, we can compare the sound system.

By no means I am an audiophile, but try this with the existing Bose system. Play a Jazz CD, and put your ear next to the tweeter and you can hardly hear the highs.

Personally I think it is worth the upgrade to achieve a better sound system. I was going to put a sub woofer but after a long hard thought, I decided I am not willing to sacrifice my trunk space for booming bass.
