Bumping up the Stock Bose signal voltage level with a high end signal processor...

I have the OEM Bose system in my 04 coupe with Infinity Reference in the front doors..

I just installed a JL 10" W3V3 in my car in a 4080 enclosure. I am powering the sub with a Precision Power PCX280 I will soon be powering the front speakers with the a second identical amp.

I am not very impressed with the sound quality. I have had similar setups to this in other cars and its been far better in quality. On some songs it sounds great and others you cant even tell the sub is there. I have the crossovers set correctly so that's not the issue.

I am really thinking it is the lack of high voltage input to the amp.

I was thinking about maybe getting some kind of Audio Control unit to bump up the input signal voltage to the amp. Whats yalls thoughts on something like that?

I was thinking something along the lines of one of these..
Audio Control EQS
Audio Control LC6i

Thanks!!

The AudioControl devices work well but it depends on how your sub amp is connected to the Bose system. Also, if your new speakers are 4 ohm, they aren't going to sound as loud as the stock Bose speakers. The Bose HU does have a low output voltage.

I have the amp connected the way it shows in the sticky on this forum..

The front speakers are not the issue at all. They sound fine for being powered off of the Bose amp. They are the 2ohm Infinity Reference's

I am running a 4ohm JL sub bridged into the PPI amp. Which on paper says its getting 320W. I know its getting plenty of power. Just confused as to why the volume and sound quality are not up to par.

after a certain point, the outputs from the bose unit don't increase for the subwoofer... it was done to prevent clipping the stock 8" ... idk if this would effect an aftermarket sub that's been added onto another amp, but it sounds like your voltage isn't there to deliver a strong signal, or the bass signal is being capped by the bose system... i don't remember where i read about the cap, but i believe it was on this forum... I just installed my entire aftermarket system (except replacing stock speakers) and it's ridiculously loud... i'm in love

That's caused by the Bose amp and will be an issue if the sub is tapped after the signal goes through the Bose amp first. That's one reason why it is better to tap into the signal before it enters the Bose amp.
