Infinity vs JL Subs???

I'm downgrading from two 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect to one 10" sub to better fit the trunk of my G35. My question is which of these two subs would you all most reccomend?

Infinity Perfect10DVQ
or
JL Audio 10W7

Re: Infinity vs JL Subs???

I have the 10dvq in a .75 ft/3 sealed enclosure in my coupe right now. It is a very nice sub in terms of SQ (probably the best I've ever heard in terms of accuracy and tightness) but a little lacking in SPL. In terms of being able to go low, it does very well for being a 10".

SQ: 10 out of 10
SPL: 8 out of 10

w7. I had the 12w7 in my sedan in a 1.38 ft/3 sealed enclosure powered by a JL 500/1 that was bench tested at over 700 watts rms at 13.8. It was a monster. The ability to reproduce the low end was amazing. It went extremely low and deep. It was a sub that you felt as much as hearing. Sound quality was excellent also. It was almost as good as the Infinity but not quite.

SQ: 9
SPL: 10

I think it'll come down to what you are looking for. I went with the vq (instead of a 10w7) because I was looking for the best SQ possible at a decent weight. A 10w7 with a sealed enclosure at 1.25 ft/3 would probably weigh twice as much the vq I have right now. If you're not that worried about weight, get the w7. You will not be disappointed in any way.

Another sub you might want to consider is the 10w6v2. I put one of those in my bud's coupe and it is impressive as well. I'd say that it a 9 in SQ and a 8.5 in SPL.

www.edesignaudio.com

visit www.caraudio.com's forums for information on subs. Basically there are subs just as good (if not slightly better) than the W7 at half the cost. They will blow away the infinitys. www.edesignaudio.com is one of those companies...they aren't too well known unless you look into things.

They seel them online only. They are great guys to deal with and make excellent subs.Check the website. I have a Ed-K12 and the notes that hits to be in a 1.25 sealed inclosure and only drinking 400W is amasing and that isnt even on a class D amp with no subsonic filter and it is a great sounding. Only thing i dont like about the new sub are the flat cones.

Re: Infinity vs JL Subs???

Ghost, their subs are SICK. In many ppls opinions as good as JLw7s for so much cheaper. I just bought a B312 (no longer made). It puts out 1000 rms, which is generally even a conservative rating. As soon as you pick up the sub you can just feel the quality of it, its so freakin solid (compared to RF Punchs and JLs ive dealt with). The sub hits like crazzzzy, I honestly can't find anything wrong about it. I am powering it with a Hifonics Brutus 1500 amp (best amp for the money). It does 15000 @ 1ohm, or 1000 @ 2ohms, and i've never had this go into protect mode even after hours and hours of playing. It also has a filter in it which most amps that price do not have. You can get it for around 300, which is a sick price on that kinda amp.

I was more surprised to hear that the sub put out 1000 RMS!! I've never heard about a sub putting out that kind of power!

Re: Infinity vs JL Subs???

My bad... I ment 1500 (one thousand five hundred) watts at 1 ohm

Regarding the sub, yeah it does put out 1000 (one thousand) watts RMS. Its a freakin' monster. If anyones going to the big 350z meet in morristown, nj on sunday, you can hear for yourself
