no audio from early-style OEM Sirius SAT radio

We purchased this from someone here recently and are having issues with it. This is the old style Clarion OEM unit with the dual antennas. It has the splitter installed with terrestrial and sat pigtail adapter. It is going in a prewired 04 coupe with the Bose system.

The unit is properly grounded. Once plugged in, the HU sees it and it behaves as it should. Activation was text-book however, the unit only works once. Turning the radio off and back on seems to kill the audio from the sat receiver. All other radio functions continue with no problem. The HU displays SAT channel guide correctly but no audio.

Have tried two different Sirius antennas, one from a Stilleto and one from a Sportster and it behaves the same way. We removed the unit and put it back in after a few days. As before, we got audio initially but upon turning the radio off, the audio again was gone. All testing has been done while sitting still so its not like the unit is sliding around and losing a wired connection.

Has anyone seen this before? This is too strange.
