Help! I just installed Factory Ipod Integration...

Hey guys,

I just finished installing my Factory Ipod Integration. I bought the unit used from a fellow member who bought it new from everythingg35.com. Install was fine, except for getting the ipod connector under the carpet. On to my question...

here's some background of my car...
I have an 05 g35coupe that DOES NOT have SAT, NAV, or the BOSE sound system.

With that being said, when I have my ipod plugged in I have to shuffle through the Radio (pushing it several times)...it goes through AM, FM1, FM2, and then to XM1 and XM2. Both XM1 and XM2 play my ipod. I thought that songs, artists, etc. were supposed to be displayed...? All it says is "XM1 CH-00X" (X being the song number in my ipod) or "XM2 CH-00X".

It also wont allow me to change artists, genres, playlists, etc. I have to manually go to my ipod and change it. The only button that really does anything is the "TUNE FF REW" button. When I press the "SEEK - TRACK" button it will scroll through and say "SONG"..."PLAYLISTS"..."GENRES"..."ALBUMS"...."SET UP
... it wont actually bring up any of those features.

Lastly, my steering wheel buttons do nothing except for volume and MODE works like normal (scrolling through AM, FM, CD, and Ipod). The "next" or "previous" song button on the steering wheel does not work.

Is there anything I need to do in terms of setting this unit up to do the things I want it to do?...or is this it...this is as best as it comes?

If anyone could answer all those questions for me, that would be great. Ill attach a picture of what my stereo looks like...

Thanks everyone!

Hey man, sounds like your having a little trouble getting started with the unit lol. It took me some time to get used to it also, I'll try and run you through some things.

In my g it did display the song name or artist, to do that I'd have to hold the DISP button for a sec and it would say something, let off and hold again to keep cycling through to what you want.

The TUNE FF REW button is kind of like an enter button.
You already know the SEEK - TRACK button scrolls through song, playlist etc..

To get to an artist:
Press the SEEK button until it says artist, and then press up on the TUNE button.
Next press the SEEK button again and cycle through the artists to the one you want, and then press up on the TUNE button.
The radio should start playing the first song in that artists' folder.

Same concept to get a playlist.

For the steering wheel controls, I believe there was some lag when trying to go to the next/previous song. Try holding the button a second or two longer.
Hope this helps!
