BCM Question
I have an 03 Infiniti G35 coupe. My bcm went out and I couldnt use my power locks and power windows. I bought a used BCM From a junk yard and he said it would work for my car. I pluged it in and my locks and windows work but the car doesnt start. I noticed the BCM had different numbers than mine did. Is this the problem or does it have to be programed at a dealer?
Numbers on the one he sold me is = 284B1 AM 600
mine = 284B1 AM 800

I guess there arent any techs on this site. I think I figured it out in case any of you have the same problem. The transponder in the key is programed to the bcm based on a code. My used (new) bcm has a different code than my last so I need to take it to nissan or infiniti to have them reprogram the key to work on the new bcm. Problem solved.

let me actually tell you guys the full story in case it happends to anyone again. I tried the $5 dollar actuator fix because my driver door lock was out. I got it all hooked up and it worked a couple times and then quit working. Somehow EIther the wire grounded out or the bcm shorted out because it wasnt used to this cheap $5 actuator. So I bought the OEM actuator $150 bucks and installed it and it didnt work and i noticed my passenger window and locks were out. So I bought a used BCM and plugged everything in and it didnt make a difference. THen I bought the door switches driver and passenger. now everything worked except the car wouldnt start. I plugged the old bcm and the car would start but the drivers side switches didnt work..
SO long story short the $5 dollar actuator fix shorted out my BCM and my driver side and passenger side switches. Now I am going to the dealer to spend another $100-150 getting my new BCM programmed.
all together this mistake has cost me $350 dollars less than if I had the dealer replaced the door lock actuator. But it has been frustrating and I have less hair now.

sorry to hear that man. should have stated the original problem in the beginning, I might have been able to help you out but I don't know much about BCMs. but thinking of the symptoms you listed after swapping the bcm it makes complete sense. the transponder id isn't going to correspond with your new bcm.

Final update...
I called every dealer within 100 miles from me nobody could schedule me in to reprogram the bcm until next week. So I called the locksmith and he came out and did it in 5 minutes for $85. I probably could have got a locksmith to do it for $50 if I shopped around but I was in a hurry. The dealer told me as did others that only the dealer could do it but the locksmith programed the key to the new bcm with this little handheld device he had. So if any of you every fry your bcm and need to replaced it you can get a used one at a salvage yard for about $75 and get a locksmith to program it for you for less than $100. Thats not bad considering a new bcm from the dealer is over $400.
