Can anyone answer my questions about the v1?
I have a few questions that I need straightened out because my v1 didnt come with a manual.
What do all the bands *X, K, Ka, L* stand for specifically?
and what do the different modes mean and stand for *A L and the one that looks like half an L*
Thanks

Here is everything you really need to know about your V1:
Keep in mind that your V1 always operates at maximum sensitivity, so it will always alert you immediately when bogeys are detected at initial volume (main volume on the ****).
A and the half L and L are settings -
"A" is All Bogey mode, and reports all bogeys.
The half L is Logic mode where X band bogeys will still be reported, but what your V1 sees as low threatening signals will be reported in the muted level. It'll let you know if the signal becomes threatening by changing to the initial volume.
And the L is Advanced Logic mode, so the V1 will filter out all the bs, but will still alert you when the signal is strong, just in case.
The 3 lines means you just got hit by laser.
The J means false alarm (junk) and that will usually be accompanied by a dee-dah-doo sound.
During an alert, if the V1 locks onto another bogey, it will make a dee-deet sound.
Your V1 will give a slow beep for X band, brap for K band, and a brap-brap for Ka. Of course the sound quickens as the signal gets closer.
In the case of multiple bogeys, the audio will be of the greatest threat, indicated by the blinking arrow.
A "P" when it turns on means it's been reprogrammed.
If you still want to see the manual, you can download it from valentine1.com
As for the signals, X and K are usually automatic opening doors, microwaves, high end alarms, and other kinds of junk signals. It is very rare to see a radar operating in X or K band these days.
Ka - worry about these. Most radars are Ka now, although it can sometimes be another radar detector.
L, you're screwed. It literally takes a miracle to get an advanced notice for laser, so if you see the 3 lines and the L light up, you've already been hit by a laser. But sometimes it can be the large LCD billboards and such.

A good place to go to get your radar detector questions answer is:
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/
Almost everything you want to know about radar detectors and then some. There is a V1 sub-forum there.
