AM/FM reception sucks on F90bt!

My AM/FM reception sucks!!! I have an aftermarket HU, pioneer f90bt.
I wired the blue wire(antenna) from the f90bt to the blue wire(power antenna) from the metra 7551. And I still have crappy reception! Did i do this right?
On the f90bt manual it says "BLUE= To auto-antenna relay control terminal. If the vehicle has a glass antenna, connect to the antenna booster power control terminal(max. 300 mA 12V DC)" Can somebody explain what that means?

How can I fix this problem? thanks

Um, you DID also connect the antenna terminal to the radio -- right? Through the Nissan antenna convertor?

If you're getting sound in every source (FM, CD, ipod, etc) you've connected the antenna correctly.

Your F90bt does not come with the HD module, nor the antenna.

You didn't connect the antenna to the F90bt -- something's up.

Doesn't sound like you got the Nissan antenna adapter.

That won't fix a reception problem since it uses the same antenna. It does use a different tuner though, so if he has a bad tuner in the radio it would fix that. However HD radio just plain sucks. I had a HD tuner in my car for two years and the signal is very weak unless you're close to a major metro area. I spend a lot of time near NYC so it worked well, but I live 80 miles from there and it was useless. Plus who wants to listen to commercials? Get Sirrius or XM and be done.

Do you get sound in ipod/CD/DVD source mode?

If yes: then you DID power the correct blue wire (antenna wire also is the amp turn on wire).

If no: then you need to check your wiring again

I would just check to be sure you SEATED everything correctly .. it's worth just checking it out -- i know it sux to remove the dash again, but it'll be worth it if the FM/AM starts to work

Also -- set your power antenna settings in the F90bt setup menu to ALWAYS ON .. you'll see how to do that in user manual or install manual..

I had a similar problem on a kenwood install in a Honda pilot... and i took everything out .. tested it while wiggling the antenna adapter around and realized there was a loose pin in the OEM antenna harness -- fixed that easily and all was good again...

are u talking about the two pin's on the oem antenna?
also somebody said to put the blue wire(power ant.) and the blue/white wire(amp turn-on) from the metra kit together and connect it to the blue/white wire (power amp) from the f90bt harness. Would this help the reception?
thanks.

No, you got the right kit -- just make sure all the connections are solid -- re-seat them if you need to.

For the unit you linked/ebay ... that "tuby" thing is the diversity antenna component for some nissans which require a second connection, your G does not need that.

Did u go back, remove the F90bt headunit and check the back connections? I know it sux, but it has to be done...

Does your car have tint?

Metalized tint will hurt FM and near kill all AM reception.

Aftermarket tuners are generally junk. It wouldn't matter what the factory vs the pioneer did. It was a questions to eliminate possible problems. One of which that effects after market tuners often.
