Escort 9500ix and Mike's Mount
Escort 9500ix and Mike's Mount
There's been lots of discussion regarding the use of Mike's Mount with the Escort 8500 X50 and Valentine One radar detectors, but I haven't found any discussions about using Mike's Mount with the Escort 9500ix. Some questions for those who've used Mike's Mount with the Escort 9500ix
1. The 9500ix and 8500 x50 appear to have about the same form factor. Does the 9500ix physically fit well when used with Mike's Mount? Are all buttons accessible?
2. Does the 9500ix pickup radar/laser from behind and in front of the vehicle when used with Mike's Mount as compared to when the 9500ix is on the windshield (I typically place the radar detector on the center of the windshield, about 5" from the bottom).
3. The 9500ix needs to be able to pickup the GPS signals. Can it pickup the GPS signals as well when under the rear view mirror using Mike's Mount, as compared to putting it on the windshield?
4. Anyone want to share any other miscellaneous insights/experiences with the 9500ix?
Thanks!

OK i have a v1 with a mike's mount but my dad was a mirror mounted 9500 on his car so i try to answer as best i can

Yes you can access the buttons but its going to be a bit high depending on how tall you keep your seat ect. But if you know the positioning of the buttons you should be fine.

Ok few things here. 1 you really shouldnt keep a radar detector that low. Radar signals are best picked up while highest possible. If you look at real hard core guys they will mount it on the top of the windshield. Also Dont concern yourself about rear laser detection. If you get hit with laser, especially from the rear and dont have a jammer (laser interception or blinder ect) your done for. Now as for radar The 9500 only has a front antenna,

The v1 has as patent on two radar horns

So basically the rear detection picked up by a 9500 I is based on radar bouncing off things and coming in through the front anyways. So just by mounting it higher on the windshield than you use to be you will probably be getting better range than before.

On my dads car it takes a bit longer but he has a metal bracket not a "plastic" (forget the exact material of a MM) one but even then it still works just fine for him

Good choice for a detector but if you are concerned with laser like a said get a jammer. Oh and dont forget a stealth/invisa cord really easy to install on our cars. And to take that thing down when you go someone thats 400 bucks dangling from your mirror that can disappear real quick.
Thanks!
