I can't get the avelectronics unit to power on
I can't get the avelectronics unit to power on
i'm kinda new at this so excuse my ignorance
i tried connecting the red 12v wire from the unit to the red wire of the passenger side lighter. the other 3 wires from the tuner unit (ground reverse hand brake) i grounded them to the frame.
the only other problem i think might cause it is the pink sync wire ? but it should at least power on even if the pink wire is inncorrect ,.... right?

Re: I can't get the avelectronics unit to power on
Jatt,
Firstly, I think you can disconnect the reverse wire from your ground. You only need to have the hand-brake and the real ground on your chassis side. That should be fine. The reverse wire should be connected to your real reverse lead from the car's tranny harness... Thats another story.
The unit will only power on once the power button is hit from the remote. I can't tell you how many of my customers make this mistake. Connect the AV unit as you need to. Please make sure you plug in the infra-red sensor to the unit (it has the s-video connector on it). Then, you can make sure you have your key 'on' in the car and proceed to hit the power button on the AV unit's remote. It should work.
I have explained this to 75% of my customers - because they think that the power doesn't come on... its just a matter of hitting the power button...
BTW - If you have the reverse wire grounded to your chassis, it will be on Video 3 input mode all the time... It will simply show no picture with this (unless you have something connected to it).
Hope that helps...
