left door speaker/tweeter stopped working ???

so i have an 04 coupe w/ bose, and recently my bundle of joy was hit on the drivers side door. car was fixed, everything working but the speakers....so i thought disconnected wire. take it back to the body shop, they tear my drivers side down and still to no avail no disconnected wire. so i take it to my sub guy, he tested the wires, and it was weird.

he took his tester, plugged my speaker into it, then plugged the wires into it. still no sound. he then took the negative out, grounded the wire and WALLAH it worked. he said possaibly it was the amp thats out, but before the accident, right up to point of impact it was working. so even he was questioned by it. so heres my question, ANY ONE EVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AND HOW DO I FIX IT? any ideas? thanks!

Maybe just the ground wire from the stock amp went bad. Did he ground the stock stweeter to see if it works?
