Just bought my g35, need opinion on: 1.ipod/hd radio, 2.dvd/navigation, 3.bluetooth

I just bought my 2005 g35 sedan and I love it.

Now its time to make some modifications to make it even more fun for me to drive and show off.

1) I have the stock bose system with a 6 CD changer. I want HD radio and I also want to use my ipod in my car. What is the best ipod intergration system, one that can control the ipod with the steering wheel controls, charges the ipod, and displays the info in the display? So far I have found these two options:

a.INFINITI G35 04-07 IPOD INSTALL CAR INTERFACE KIT PXAMG for $140 - http://cgi.ebay.com/INFINITI-G35-04-07-IPOD-INSTALL-CAR-INTERFACE-KIT-PXAMG_W0QQitemZ310137069299QQcmdZViewItemWith this option I would probably go ahead and get the HD add on for $80: http://cgi.ebay.com/PERIPHERAL-HDRT-...3%3A1|294%3A30
Is this or good idea or does anyone know of a better option?

b.Neo Pro Link - PODNISV2 for $180 - http://www.icarkits.com/product_info...oducts_id=3351
I would probably need something else to get HD radio with this, any ideas?

Anyone have any suggestions on what to get. I would prefer to be able to control my ipod with the steering wheel as well as on my navigation screen. I also want to be able to have the navigation screen display my ipod info. This brings me to my second mod...

2) I do not have OEM navigation system and I love the clean look. I just have the black pocket which goes in its place. I need an OEM navigation system, and it needs to be wood grained.

I have found this one on ebay for $700, does anyone know if this would be a good investment:

I also found this one for $1000:

Can anyone think of why there is this large of a discrepancy in price? Doesn't really matter, I was just thinking.

And is there anyway to get a touchscreen navigation screen?

3. I want bluetooth for my phone, does anyone know of a way to have this and I know this is a stretch, but stream music through bluetooth from my phone. I found this one on ebay. Any good and will it do what I want it to do?

That's it for now. I know that is a lot but any help would be appreciated!

I will answer and post suggestions to some of your questions.

1) For the Navigation. People on this forum have said, its not worth it to integrate OEM Navi into a non-navi car. Why? Well placement, additional hardware, running a harness, etc.. What I and others would do instead, is pickup a Double Din Unit. With the DD unit, you already have the IPOD features, HD Radio, SAT, Bluetooth etc.. (Depending on model/brand). Yes you will have to get rid of the BOSE, but the the features you'll gain over weighs it. People preferred to swap out their Bose anyway.

2) Double Din kits are available FOR NOW (JDM, with AC Controller). Riverside Infiniti has them in stock, you can check the 05-06 DD kit thread in this very section, for more information on it.

3) PAC is a company that utilizes the usage for stock radio controls on the steering wheel. You can get their kit and connect it with the proper wires to use the steering wheel functions.

4) Remember you can always sell the BOSE headunit on EBAY and whatnot, and Im pretty sure someone will buy it for at least a $100 or more. Use that money, put it towards a MUCH better system.

Good luck!

I like the factory look

Thanks for the help with my question. I had been thinking about getting a double din unit, but I really do like the factory look. I'm kind of hesitant to do anything that will make it look modified, because I got my last car broken into because it had been modified. I just really want the stock look, but not with the stock options.

I guess I will look around for a dd unit that will fit all my needs.

Thanks again. BTW, what do you think would be a good nav/dvd/cd player?

I agree with the above. I have the PXAMG and with all that you want, it would be easier and cheaper to just go with all new stuff.

I was going to get HD for the PXAMG untill i saw it renders your normal am/fm useless without additional antenna adapters. Also the use of the HD radio is not straight forward and you cant use ANY of the 1-6 preset buttons for the stations (this includes regular am/fm if you dont get the antenna adapter). If you go read more reviews of the HD product there are not many people who give it praise. Combine that with the fact that the PXAMG unit has volume issues, it is not what i would want to use for am/fm/hd.

I've got solutions for #1 and #3 that won't cost you any more than $40.

#1: the 2005 models can play MP3 CDs, so rather than carrying your iPod with you each time you get in your car, and remembering to hook it up and what not, simply play your MP3 CD. I believe each CD holds about 670 MB, multiply that times 6 for the # of CDs the stereo can hold, and that's 4 GB (roughly 1,000 songs). the CDs should only cost you $3

#3: check out the Jabra SP700, costs about $37 on e-bay. it has an FM transmitter, and can stream your music from your phone to your car stereo. additionally, it announces the number of the person calling you. the lone setback for this device is that on their website, they claim that it will also display the in-coming call # on your stereo if your stereo is RDS compatible. I have yet to witness this, and contacts to their tech support have been un-answered. otherwise, it's almost as good as having a built-in unit. You can also buy it at best buy for $80, try it for 30 days, and then return it

regarding #2, if you want an all-in-one unit, I've read great reviews about the Alpine Blackbird II. It's two separate items, one is the in-dash unit (iVA-W205), and the other is the actual GPS device (Blackbird II PMD). the GPS device docks into the in-dash unit (and can be removed for use as a hand-held device). it also has bluetooth capabilities and an iPod adapter. both devices are about $500 each on e-bay.

@VandyZ, I was thinking that with all the options that I wanted, the PXAMG would probably be the best option for ipod. I had not done much research for the HD radio, so thanks for the heads up on the problems that I could face. BTW do you know what kind of adapter I would need if I were to get the HD add-on? Or should I just go an entirely different route?

Its a $20 antenna splitter (female in, 2 male outs) so that the head unit has an antenna and so does the HD box. If you dont use this, then you have to tune your AM/FM using the PXAMG which uses their crazy menu system and preset settings.
